How to write a project status update with Rovo in Atlassian Projects

Open the project, start a new update and choose Draft with Rovo. Check the draft against what you know, edit it, pick the status and post. About 5 minutes. AI must be switched on for the Projects app.

Before you start

A Standard, Premium or Enterprise plan, with AI switched on for the Projects and Goals apps by an admin.

  1. 1

    Open the project

In Atlassian Home, open Projects and click the project you are updating.

  2. 2

    Start a new update

Click to write an update for this week.

  3. 3

    Choose Draft with Rovo

Rovo reads recent activity from the work linked to the project and writes a draft.

  4. 4

    Check the draft

Read every line against what you know. Rovo only sees linked work, so it misses decisions made in meetings and chat. Delete anything wrong and add what it missed.

  5. 5

    Set the status

Choose On track, At risk or Off track. Rovo may suggest one; the call is yours.

  6. 6

    Post the update

Post it. Followers of the project and its goal see it.

If it does not work

There is no Draft with Rovo option. An organisation or site admin must switch AI on for the Projects and Goals apps in Atlassian Administration (Apps, then AI settings). The Free plan does not include Rovo.

The draft is thin or generic. Rovo drafts from linked work. Link the Jira work items and Confluence pages behind the project, then draft again.
