How to remove a URL from Google Search with the Removals tool
Open Removals under Indexing, click New request, enter the page address and choose whether to remove this URL only or every URL with the prefix. It hides the page from Google Search for about six months, it does not delete it. About 2 minutes.
This is for anyone who needs a page out of Google Search results quickly, for example one published by mistake. The Removals tool hides the address for about six months. For a permanent removal you also have to block the page from indexing or take it off your site, and Google says so in the dialog itself.
Before you start
You need Owner or Full user permission on the property, and the address must belong to it. We walked the screens as an Owner.

In the left menu, under Indexing, click Removals.
You should see: A page with the tabs Temporary removals, Outdated content and SafeSearch filtering, and a Submitted requests table.

Click Next and follow the prompts
Click NEXT and read what Google shows before you confirm. Cancel instead if you only wanted to look.
You should see: Google's confirmation step. We did not go past Next, so we cannot describe it here.
If it does not work
The page is still in search results after you request a removal. Check the Submitted requests table. A temporary removal only hides the address for about six months, so for a lasting fix block the page from indexing or remove it from your site as well.
You wanted to remove a cached copy of the page. Search Console says cache updates are no longer available. You can still request a snippet update on the Clear snippet tab.
Another address that shows the same content is still listed. The dialog says removals of other URLs leading to this content must be requested separately. Make a new request for each address.

Yes. Under the address field the dialog says all URL variations, www and non-www and http and https, will be affected.

How we checked
Verified 11 Oct 2026 against the live interface on pinafly.com's own Search Console domain property.
What we observed
- Removals sits under Indexing in the left menu, with three tabs, Temporary removals, Outdated content and SafeSearch filtering, a New request button and a Submitted requests table with the columns URL, Type, Requested and Status.
- The page showed a notice saying cache updates are no longer available, and that you can still request snippet updates.
- The New Request dialog has two tabs, Temporarily remove URL and Clear snippet, an Enter URL field, two choices, Remove this URL only (selected) and Remove all URLs with this prefix, a note that removals of other URLs leading to this content must be requested separately, and Cancel and Next buttons with Next greyed out until an address is entered.
- The dialog's own text says a removal blocks a URL from Google Search results for about six months, and that for permanent removal you must block the page from indexing or remove it from the site.
