Pinafly

Install the extension

By the end the Pinafly icon will be in your Chrome toolbar and connected to your account, ready to freeze pages.

Before you start: you need a Pinafly account and Chrome on a computer.

Install and connect

  1. Open Pinafly in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
  2. Optional: pin the icon to the toolbar from Chrome's puzzle-piece menu, so it is always one click away.
  3. Click the Pinafly icon, then Connect Pinafly.
  4. In the window that opens, sign in if asked, then click Approve.

The icon now shows Connected, and you can capture a page.

What the extension can see

It only reads a page when you click the icon on that page, and it sends what it freezes only to Pinafly.

Some sites keep their images on other servers that a page cannot copy from. If a freeze loses images that way, the extension tells you how many and offers Allow, which lets it fetch those images the way your browser already does. Nothing is asked at install, and you can decline. Freezes also finish faster once it is allowed.

For how Chrome handles extension permissions, see Chrome: install and manage extensions.
